Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC) was established in 2008 by passage of House Bill 6172. MAPAAC is a 21 member commission under the MI Dept of Civil Rights. Commissioners are appointed by the Governor of MI, subject to approval by State Senate. MAPAAC’s vision is to advance the full and equal participation of Asian Pacific Americans in the building of a greater MI.
