What to Expect

  1. Our phone numbers are not 24 hour crisis hotline. It is a helpline.  
       
  2. When you call, our Intake person will answer or you will be requested to leave a message with your name, number, a brief message and a suitable time to return your call.

  3. If you leave a message, your call will be returned within 24 hours if received during the busiess hours (M-F, 9:00 Am to 5:00 PM). If call received during the week end (Friday after 5:00 PM or Saturday, Sunday), call will be returned on Monday. 

  4. Intake worker will perform a detailed intake to understand your situation and services needed. During this call, emotional support and resources will be provided or the case will be forwarded to a caseworker if additional MaiFS services are needed. 

  5. We will do our best to match you with a caseworker that speaks a language you are comfortable with if you are not comfortable speaking in English.   

  6. Our professionally trained and qualified caseworkers  will speak to about your concerns. You can also set up a meeting with the caseworker at our office or another location if you prefer to talk in person. You can also communicate via email.
        
  7. The caseworker will try to understand the problems you face and then, based on your needs, provide you with immediate assistance or refer you to appropriate services.
       
  8. The caseworker will NEVER tell you what to do or make decision for you

  9.  All the information you share with the caseworker is confidential

  10.  You will not be forced to share any information that you do not want to share
