Jaydevi Sanghvi, a pioneer in bringing Indian culture to Detroit, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024.
Jaydevi was born in Gondal, India and spent her formative years in Bombay. She met her future husband, Bharat Sanghvi at Jai Hind College. She joined him in Detroit in 1960 where they married and started on their journey filled with many cherished friendships. After hosting the annual Festival of India events at Hart Plaza in Detroit, she remained deeply involved in dance, food and the arts for decades, handing down her passion to the next generation.
She steadfastly supported her husband Bharat who was one of the founding member of MAIFS (MAI Family Services), an organization that has made a difference to thousands of residents in dealing with family crisis.
Jaydevi along with her late husband Bharat Sanghvi have made a profound impact on our community by their trailblazing initiatives and dedicated service.
Devoted mother of Rajiv and Binit (Angela) and loving grandmother of Amit, Aakash, Armaan, Shivani, and Amar. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The passing of Jaydevi Sanghvi is a great loss to the community.
