Mona Motwani passed from this world on August 12, 2021. Mona suffered from Chronic Lyme disease that she contracted during a trekking adventure in South America.
Mona graduated from the University of Michigan and went on to receive her Law Degree from the Hastings College of Law at the University of California. Mona worked to combat the human trafficking epidemic at the United Nations in post-war Sarajevo and worked with the American Civil Liberties Union for fair housing litigation.
As a student in law school, Mona co-founded a non-profit, SPARK, with the mission to advance gender equality. The SPARKSF.ORG in 2019 merged with Global Fund for women, International non profit organization serving the women in the world.
Mona moved to Bali in 2013 and became an entrepreneur, public speaker and continued her humanitarian work. Since 2018, Mona was living in Carlsbad, CA. Mona’s mission was working on social injustice and environmental causes.
Mona adventured around the globe – from Michigan to Colorado, California, Spain, Bosnia, Bali – where she created global communities of loving friends. Mona loved skiing, skating, surfing and hiking. She was a spiritual being whose love for nature, friendship and humanitarian work was woven into the fabric of her short but meaningful life. Her giving and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
