Since 2017, Mai Family Services has supported South Asian survivors of domestic violence through culturally responsive advocacy and empowerment programs across Metro Detroit, funded by a State of Michigan grant. This grant provides participants with free services, including victim advocacy, life-skills training, educational opportunities, and supportive resources such as childcare and transportation—helping individuals rebuild their lives with dignity, independence, and hope for a safer future.
Since 2017, Mai Family Services has served as a trusted lifeline for South Asian victims and survivors of domestic violence, offering a year-round program rooted in compassion, cultural understanding, and empowerment. Through the Victim Advocacy and Women’s Empowerment Program—supported by the Culturally Focused Services (CFS) Grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Division of Victim Services—participants gain the tools, guidance, and support needed to rebuild their lives with confidence and dignity.
Tailored specifically for South Asian communities across Metro Detroit—including Wayne, Macomb, Oakland, and Washtenaw counties—this program delivers free, comprehensive services that extend far beyond immediate crisis intervention. Participants receive individualized victim advocacy and practical life-skills training designed to foster long-term safety, independence, and stability.
The CFS Grant additionally offers supportive resources such as childcare, transportation, and, when appropriate, limited education or tuition assistance—making it possible for participants to fully engage in their path toward empowerment.
